Manama, April 13 (BNA): Shura Council Speaker Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh praised the start of implementing the second phase of the Alternative Penalties Law or the Open Prisons Program, in line with the decision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The wise vision of bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al-Saleh praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior, led by Minister Major General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in this regard, appreciating its tireless endeavors to continue developing the alternative punishment program to advance the criminal justice system and enhance social security.
He said that the efforts of the Ministry of Interior reflect the Kingdom’s continuous efforts to protect human rights during the prosperous reign of His Majesty the King.
He highlighted the positive results of alternative punishments and open prison programs, as they contribute to the gradual integration of beneficiaries into society, and enable them to actively participate in the development of society.
He also praised the Public Prosecution Office, civil society and various institutions for their contribution to the success of these programs aimed at rehabilitating convicts, reducing crime rates and achieving social stability.
