Manama, Jan. 6 (BNA): The Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Endurance Championship, organized by the Bahraini Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BRAVE), will start at the Bahrain International Endurance Village next Saturday.
Sponsored by the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) and Ascon, this event is being held based on the directives of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Breef, His Highness Sheikh Nasser. bin Hamad Al Khalifa under the auspices of the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The event will feature a 160 km race for the Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa International Cup, a 120 km international race, a 100 km local race, in addition to local qualifying races for a distance of 80 and 40 km.
On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed his appreciation for Khalid’s efforts to promote endurance sports in Bahrain, noting that his support for the stables and riders will lead to fierce competition among the participants to reach the podium.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser affirmed that the championship has always been an important event in which riders compete and perform well, adding that it provides a platform to discover young talents who will be able to represent the Kingdom in various external endurance gatherings.
He pointed out that last year’s edition witnessed strong competition between riders and stables, indicating that this year’s championship will be successful due to the high level of participants. He also welcomed all participating jockeys and stables, wishing them well.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser praised the efforts made by Brave under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to provide all kinds of support to the stables and riders and to create ideal conditions for the success of the championship.
