SESRIC to organize seminar on elderly and persons with disabilities in OIC countries

Ankara, November 28 / BNA / The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is organizing a symposium on “Old people and people with disabilities”. In the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation” on 2 December.

The symposium, which will be held in Dubai as part of the activities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation during the Dubai Expo 2020, will address the situation of the elderly and people with disabilities in the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

It will include a panel discussion in which experts from OIC countries and relevant institutions, as well as international organizations, will participate.

Participants will discuss the common challenges faced by the elderly and people with disabilities, assess prospects for improving their quality of life, share knowledge and best practices in this field, and expand efforts towards strengthening cooperation within the OIC.

During the panel discussion, SESRIC will present the main findings of two upcoming reports. The first report on “The Status of Older Persons in the Member Countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation” provides a comprehensive analysis of the current situation of the elderly in the OIC countries.

The second report on “People with Disabilities and Special Needs in the OIC Countries” investigates the current situation of people with disabilities and special needs in the OIC member states.

The seminar will be broadcast live on SESRIC’s YouTube channel.
