Rome, Jan. 8 (BNA) 20 Serie A clubs voted unanimously on Saturday to reduce attendance at stadiums to a maximum of 5,000 spectators over two rounds amid an increase in coronavirus cases.
This is lower than the current 50% allowed by the Italian government.
The two rounds with the automatically imposed limit are scheduled for January 15-17 and January 21-23, according to the Associated Press.
A full list of 10 matches scheduled for Sunday The stadiums could still be filled by up to 50%, as is the case for the Italian Super Cup scheduled for Wednesday at the San Siro stadium between Inter Milan and Juventus.
Four matches in the previous round were not played after local health authorities banned Bologna, Turin, Salernitana and Udinese from playing.
Turin’s match against Fiorentina scheduled for Sunday is likely to be postponed to Monday.
Nearly 100 positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported among Serie A players and team staff. Spectators must wear FFP2 masks inside the stadiums.
