Seoul wildfire completely extinguished after 25 hours

Seoul, April 3 (BNA): The authorities said that a huge fire that broke out on a mountain in central Seoul was completely extinguished after 25 hours.

The fire at Mount Inwang, a popular trekking spot in the central ward of Jongno, started shortly before noon Sunday and spread quickly due to strong winds, forcing about 120 families to evacuate temporarily, according to the Seoul city government. No injuries or deaths have been reported.

South Korean news agency (Yonhap) reported that firefighters had difficulty extinguishing the raging fires despite operations that continued throughout the night.

The city government said all the burning fires had been completely extinguished as of 1:27 p.m

It is estimated that the fire has burned about 15 hectares of forest, the equivalent of 21 football fields.
