The MENA Tech team supports Amazon’s business in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). We operate in 3 countries – UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The scope of the MENA tech organization is very broad, as we are responsible for the service we provide to consumers, resellers, resellers, carriers and internal customers such as operations and customer service. The work includes launching existing Amazon products with appropriate modifications in the region, and building the first solutions in the MENA region that can be launched globally. We need technology leaders to define the technology strategy for the MENA region and drive thought leadership to expand Amazon’s presence and value in the region.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to build new products starting with product definition. We want you to think big, be innovative, build something from the ground up, and drive improvements to existing products.
Invest in building and growing a strong engineering team, from leaders to new hires, while ensuring the right mix of talent, skills and experience.
Build the technical vision for the team, including architecture, components, dependencies, engineering process, and technology selection.
Act as a team leader, proposing and planning major initiatives, owning critical objectives, and aligning resources.
Achieving results through the release of product features and technical improvements that drive the needle for customers and business outcomes.
Maintain a high-standard technical operations culture, focused on building self-healing systems, solving problems quickly, learning lessons, and continuous improvement.
Partner with peers and leaders across teams to deliver initiatives across the team.
Work with product managers, technical program managers and quality assurance leaders to raise product/market fit and technical quality.
Basic qualifications
More than 10 years of relevant engineering experience
More than 5 years of experience in managing engineers and managers
Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
qualifications preferred
Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience building high-scale applications based on web services and front-end frameworks
Experience in the field of advertising
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
Leading position for a team in industry leading products
Demonstrated track record in hiring strong engineers and managers, team building, agile processes, and software/service development
