Security staff go on strike at German airports

Berlin, March 14 (BNA) The Verdi trade union has called on security staff checking passengers at several German airports to hold a day-long warning strike while passengers wait outside the entrance to the security checkpoint.

The German news agency (dpa) reported that airport delays and cancellations were expected as the strike continued over wages and conditions.

A strike was also planned at the airports of Dusseldorf, Berlin, Bremen, Hanover and Leipzig.

The operator of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport said passengers should contact airlines about potential delays or cancellations and plan more time for their flight.

Airport operators in Dusseldorf and Cologne/Bonn said they expect many flights to be cancelled.
