Season’s first snow in South Korea


SEOUL, Oct. 10 (BNA) – The first snow of the season fell on parts of Mount Seorak and Gwangdeok in South Korea’s northeastern region on Monday, nine days before last year, the official meteorological agency said.

Crusts were seen falling on Mount Seorak around 11 a.m. while the first snow was also seen on Mount Gwangdeok in the early morning, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).

The first snowfall of the season came nine days ago last year at the Jungchung Shelter in Seorak Mountain, 1,676 meters above sea level, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, Seoul recorded a morning low of 9.3 degrees Celsius, the lowest since the fall season began, Yonhap reported.

The morning lows of Incheon, west of Seoul, and Suwon, south of the capital, were recorded at 9°C and 8.9°C, respectively.
