Manama, Jan. 31 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received the President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
The meeting affirmed His Majesty’s support for the Council’s efforts to serve Islam, highlight tolerance in it, spread awareness on the basis of Islamic moderation, and solidarity between religions and cultures to achieve peace and coexistence.
The Chairman of the Board affirmed the support of His Majesty the King as a major success in serving the Islamic religion, and His Majesty the King pledged to implement the religious and national duties and responsibilities of the Supreme Media Council.
The Council praised the declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Rome, which expressed His Majesty King Hamad’s support for various religious and humanitarian causes.
The Council said that the document is an additional achievement to the series of global and humanitarian achievements of His Majesty the Sultan in the areas of coexistence, tolerance and peace.
He congratulated the 55th anniversary of the founding of the Bahrain Defense Force and the 26th anniversary of the founding of the National Guard, and praised the national achievements in highlighting the country’s security and stability.
The Council condemned the burning of the Holy Qur’an by extremists, and stressed that the heinous act is a grave and humiliating violation of Muslims around the world and hinders efforts to promote peace between East and West.
The Council called on the international community to take a firm stand against religious abuse.
