SCH President visits Psychiatric Hospital

Manama, July 2 (BNA): The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, visits the Psychiatric Hospital in the presence of the Minister of Works Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj and the Minister of Health. Jalila S. Jawad Hassan.

Sheikh Mohammed inspected the progress of development projects in the various facilities and infrastructure of the hospital to ensure the quality of medical services for patients.

The 241-bed hospital receives an average of 75,000 visits per year to different outpatient clinics, while 1,500 patients are admitted to different medical wards annually.

He toured a number of facilities, including the newly constructed multi-purpose hall that will host sports activities, and other events and programs as part of mental health development efforts.

He stressed the keenness to support psychological services, praising the efforts of the medical staff and dedicated work teams in line with international treatment protocols.

Al-Hawaj stressed the ministry’s keenness to support efforts aimed at raising the level of government services, noting cooperation with other competent authorities to implement projects.

Dr. Hassan said that mental health is an essential pillar of the health system, stressing Bahrain’s strategy in providing health for all and improving medical services.
