SCE Chairman affirms Bahrain’s keenness on protecting environment

Manama, June 4 (BNA) The personal representative of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to adopt targeted initiatives and projects, and in the context of protecting the environment and wildlife, he emphasized keenness to protect human life, achieve sustainable development goals, and support international efforts in this regard.

On World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5 of each year and is celebrated this year under the slogan “We have only one land”, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasized the importance and support provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. In this regard, he referred to the royal directives and steps, including the ratification of Law No. (7) of 2022, which heralds a new phase of work in protecting the environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain and keeping pace with the latest developments in the environmental field. locally, regionally and internationally.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa referred to the government’s efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development goals. He noted the Kingdom’s commitment to the agreements signed with many international organizations and bodies specialized in the field of environmental and climate protection. He stressed the Kingdom’s ambitious plans to reduce emissions by 30% by 2035, citing several measures taken in this regard such as increasing green spaces and doubling renewable energy targets. He pointed to the legislative measures taken by the Kingdom to protect the environment, citing His Majesty’s ratification of Law (5) of 2021 and Law (30) of 2021.
