Samsung expected to launch Galaxy A series in mid-March

Seoul, March 7 (BUS): Samsung Electronics is widely expected to launch its entry-level Galaxy smartphones later this month in response to the March 8 release of Apple’s new iPhone SE.

Samsung’s mid- and low-end Galaxy A series is expected to come with various new models; A73, A53, A33 and A23, a product line the company said will provide advanced innovations, services and features at an accessible price, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.

Apple is expected to announce the next-generation iPhone SE, among other things, at its first product event of the year on Tuesday, targeting users looking for affordable iPhones.

The current iPhone SE, the second generation, starts at $399 and features a 4.7-inch screen and Apple A13 chip used in the iPhone 11 series.

The Galaxy A73, which will be the most advanced among the A-series, is widely expected to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G, a 6.7-inch screen and a Super AMOLED display.

Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, presented the Galaxy A72 and A52 models at its Galaxy Awesome Unpacked online event in March of last year. This was the first time that Samsung held a large-scale presentation event for Galaxy A devices.

Partly designed to handle the growing challenges from Chinese competitors in the mid- and lower-end phone market, the A Series has proven popular among price-conscious consumers.

According to industry tracker Omdia, the A12 smartphone, released in December 2020, was the world’s top-charged smartphone last year, registering a total of 51.8 million units globally, helping Samsung cement the number one position in the mobile market.
