Barcelona, March 16 (BNA) A huge dust storm flying over Europe from the Sahara made it difficult to breathe in large parts of Spain for the second day in a row on Wednesday and gave cleaning teams additional work as far as Paris and London. The region of Spain classified according to the National Air Quality Index as “extremely unfavorable” – its worst rating – has expanded from the start of the European event on Tuesday to include most of the country’s southern and central regions, including Madrid and other major cities such as Seville.
The authorities recommended that people wear face masks – which are still widely used due to the pandemic – and avoid exercising outdoors, especially for people with respiratory illnesses.
