Safety officials help develop safety policies and procedures, organize team meetings, resolve safety issues, coordinate audits and inspections, track corrective actions and accident data, review important safety documents, and many other tasks that require a high degree of attention to detail.

• The Safety Specialist monitors the performance and compliance of safety programs implemented by the Operations Manager.
• The Safety Specialist will review, amend and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures that meet the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), dnata, Sharjah Airport, and other applicable governing bodies.
• Works with the Operations Manager to evaluate procedures for organizations, facilities and equipment by performing inspections to identify unsafe conditions and implementing safeguards and solutions. This will be done through various tools such as command site visits, monthly and quarterly inspections, and task evaluations.
• Collect data and reports on all safety events and accidents.
• Maintains inventories of all first aid kits and other safety related kits assigned around the unit and ensures optimum stock and replenishment system.
• Records and tracks training in line with unit and administrative staff requirements such as fire watchers training and first aider training and ensures refresher training is conducted before expiration and the number of trained chiefs meets the required guidelines.
• Holds talks on safety tools with various departments across the unit and encourages a positive safety culture.
• Leads the Card Off agenda by recording and tracking submitted cards and ensures timely closing within the IMS (Incident Management System) portal.
• Sends an analysis of the stop cards highlighting trends, performance on open and close, top 3 risks and where the business focus should be for the next week to address any potential incidents.
• Create and send a bi-monthly unit report package which is used to highlight positive and negative feedback along with any actions and performances against CAPA.
• Reviews data and selects trends that could cause an impact on the unit or employees.
• Periodically reviews risk assessments in line with safety management and makes regular adjustments as per ALARP/RAM standards.
• Maintains unit risk log for day activity and fire risk.
• Works with Facilities Management and ensures comprehensive maintenance, servicing and schedule tracking in place for all MHE, Fall Arrest and Stairs systems.
• Provides a bi-monthly overview to Safety Management on progress in addressing Safety Sockets, pending incidents, incidents raised and CAPA performance.
• Builds positive working relationships with the dnata/dca safety team.
• Attends the DCA Safety Meeting in the absence of the Operations Manager.
• Maintains optimum stock levels of uniforms and PPE across the unit, accurately issues, issues orders, tracks consumption for all uniforms and PPEs and places orders as and when required.
• Preferably have a certificate in health and safety will be an advantage
• At least 3 years of experience in a safety role in a medium-sized operation
• Experience in HSQE documentation and reporting
• Inspection, investigation and review skills.
