Manama, September 27 (BNA) Bahrain is preparing to host the first Sports Cardiology Conference, which will be held from 2-4 December 2021.
The three-day event, entitled “The Heart of the Ethlet”, is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.
The Ministry of Health is organizing the conference in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Cardiac Specialist Center and the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Maryam Al-Hajri, stressed the importance of the national campaign to be held on the sidelines of the upcoming conference to promote fitness and cardiovascular health.
In today’s statement, Dr. Al-Hajri thanked His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his sponsorship of the conference and the national campaign.
A recent study published in Scotland revealed that exercising in a healthy way helps avoid nearly four million deaths annually in various countries of the world, due to its role in the prevention of many health disorders.
The study, which included data from 168 countries around the world, reported that at least 3.9 million premature deaths are averted each year in the world, among people aged 40 to 74, thanks to exercise.
The Geneva-based World Health Organization (WHO) also recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity.
