Ronaldo hat trick gives Man United 3-2 win over Tottenham

London, March 12 (BNA): Cristiano Ronaldo scored his second goal in Manchester United to achieve a 3-2 victory over Tottenham, to lead his team to fourth place in the English Premier League.

Ronaldo made an immediate impact in his comeback from injury, scoring from 25 yards (meters) in the 12th minute against retired NFL star Tom Brady at Old Trafford on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.

Although Harry Kane equalized from the penalty spot in the 35th minute after Alex Telles touched Dejan Kulusevski’s cross, United returned to the front three minutes later. Nemanja Matic released Jadon Sancho, who cut a cross for Ronaldo to hit goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham got the equalizer when United captain Harry Maguire turned Sergio Reguilon’s pass into his own net in the 72nd minute.

But then Ronaldo ran away from Christian Romero and jumped over Matt Doherty to meet Telles’ corner with a powerful header in front of Stretford End to take the win in the 81st minute.

Ronaldo in his first season with United from Real Madrid, and this was his first hat-trick with United since January 2008.

While United advanced to fourth in the Champions League, Tottenham are five points behind in seventh place.
