Roma wins at Sampdoria

Rome, October 17 (BNA): Roma advanced to fourth place in the Italian Serie A soccer league today, Monday, after its 1-0 victory over bottom club Sampdoria.

And Lorenzo Pellegrini’s early penalty was enough for Roma to beat Udinese and rivals Lazio and move four points away from Serie A leaders Napoli. Jose Mourinho’s team hosts Napoli next weekend.

Sampdoria was four points below safety after collecting only three points from 10 games, according to the Associated Press.

Roma were already 1-0 up by then, and with the help of the VAR, they were awarded a penalty after Samp defender Alex Ferrari crossed Tammy Abraham’s cross.

Pellegrini hit the penalty kick in the upper left corner to give the visitors the lead in the ninth minute.
