Job title
The successful applicant will work as a Research Assistant (RA) on a project studying cattle ticks in the UAE. The RA will perform the following tasks: (i) perform field work including travel for sampling of camel and animal farms in the UAE, (ii) perform laboratory work including sample handling, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and photophoresis Gel electrophoresis and other laboratory tasks, (3) perform data entry into a computer and participate in data analysis, (4) collect and sort references and participate in writing manuscripts, (5) work with graduate students in the field and laboratory, (6) organize the laboratory and conduct Inventory, and (7) laboratory records tracking (purchasing, waste recycling, maintenance).
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Entomology, Biology or Zoology.

Skills / Rank / Expected Experience
The successful applicant must have a valid UAE driving license to travel for sampling. In addition, the applicant must have a good knowledge of Emirati fauna and preferably familiar with the UAEU research system. Also, the applicant must have excellent English writing and speaking skills. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
