Public Security Chief receives Middle East Institute delegation

Manama, September 3 (BNA) Public Security Chief Lieutenant-General Tariq Al-Hassan received President of the Middle East Institute in Washington Paul Salem and his accompanying delegation.

The President welcomed the guests, praising the institute’s high-level research and studies on the Middle East. He highlighted the importance of these meetings in enhancing communication, exchange of views and cooperation.

He stressed that Bahrain will continue its approach to coexistence and a culture of peace, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the dedication to promoting religious, intellectual and cultural freedoms through the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Al-Hassan noted the directives of the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, to enhance security capabilities and performance through training, modern technology, and openness to the experiences of developed countries.

The delegation was briefed on the efforts made to expand the application of the Penal Code and alternative measures and the launch of the open prisons program, in addition to the efforts made to strengthen community partnership as a principle of interaction between police and community members.
