Preventive, curative initiatives for diabetes among top health priorities

Manama, March 3 (BNA) The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, inaugurated the fourth session of the Bahrain Diabetes and Endocrinology Conference on 3 and 4 March.


He stressed that the Kingdom is taking preventive and curative initiatives for diabetes, endocrine glands and non-communicable diseases as a priority in health plans and programs.


The head of the Supreme Council of Health said that the national strategic plan includes combating chronic diseases and diabetes and reducing the economic and health effects resulting from the increase in diabetes rates and the resulting complications.


He praised the results of the conference in all its editions, and added that the fourth edition will address the latest results of using technology in the treatment of diabetes, such as smart insulin pumps that automatically measure the level of diabetes in the blood and inject the necessary doses. Insulin to control diabetes rates in the body.


The conference will also focus on the latest global recommendations for the treatment of thyroid cancer, one of the most common types of cancer in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the latest methods of diagnosing and treating endocrine tumors, and treating osteoporosis.
