Manama, May 4 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Alexei Skosyrev.
The two sides reviewed the strong relations of cooperation and friendship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation, and ways of enhancing them in various fields in a way that meets common interests and benefits the two friendly countries and peoples.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common interest.
The Undersecretary affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s categorical position calling for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, within the framework of respect for sovereignty. The independence and territorial integrity of states, and the non-use or threat of force.
He expressed Bahrain’s condemnation of the drone attacks on the Kremlin and targeting the residence of President Vladimir Putin, describing it as a dangerous escalation.
He affirmed the Kingdom’s support for efforts calling for calm, wisdom, and settling the conflict through negotiations, in a way that preserves the lives of civilians and guarantees security, peace, and stability for all parties on the European continent.
The ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom for its firm stances in adopting the peaceful approach and calling for solutions that would calm the situation and resolve differences at the regional and international levels.
