Political Affairs Undersecretary participates in GCC-U.S. Joint Ministerial Meeting on Strategic Partnership

Riyadh, June 7 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the joint US-Gulf ministerial meeting on strategic partnership.

The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, participated in the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The meeting reviewed the progress made in the strong strategic partnership between the GCC countries and the United States of America and ways to enhance it in the political, economic and security fields.

The goal is to serve common interests in a way that contributes to the consolidation of security and peace in the Arab Gulf region, the Middle East and the world. It also aims to build on previous joint agreements, in light of the positive results of the Jeddah Summit for Security and Development in 2022, and previous ministerial meetings.

The joint US-Gulf ministerial meeting on strategic partnership also discussed regional and international issues related to the security and stability of the region, and prospects for cooperation in combating extremism and terrorism.

He also pursued diplomatic endeavors and initiatives to resolve regional and international disputes by peaceful means, while respecting international law and the Charter of the United Nations, rejecting interference in internal affairs, and the common desire to consolidate security and stability. The Gulf side was chaired by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman and head of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council, in the presence of Jassim Muhammad al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. .
