Manila, July 8 (BNA) New Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. tested positive for coronavirus on Friday after an antigen test and will be isolated for about a week, officials said.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Marcus Jr., 64, had a slight fever but was “otherwise fine”. However, he will not be able to attend an event at the US Embassy, and will join by video link a meeting with governors and mayors regarding the enhanced coronavirus footage.
People who have come into contact with the president, including his son, have tested positive for the virus and others have been notified that he is infected, according to the Associated Press.
