Phase III of Wages Protection System commences

Manama, Jan. 3 (BNA) The Chief Executive Officer of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority Jamal Abdulaziz Al-Alawi praised the employers’ continued commitment and positive participation in the wage protection system. Which contributed significantly to eliminating the phenomenon of late payment of salaries, reducing labor disputes and ensuring workers’ rights with full transparency, in addition to protecting the rights of employers and proving their commitment to completing salary payments, thus preventing complaints and grievances.

LMRA statistics indicated that all employers (CRS with more than 500 workers) have completed salary payments, along with 88% of employers (CRS with 50-499 workers) since they joined the system initiative.

“These statistics are a living testimony to the successful system that has been launched since last May, based on a decision of the Council of Ministers and in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Labor and Social Development No. 22 of 2021 regarding the stages of implementing the WPS system for workers in the private sector, under the umbrella of business development and investment towards enhancing the stability of The national economy by creating a stable work environment by establishing stable working relationships in private sector institutions on the basis of transparency and protection of workers’ rights.

WPS is seen as a great leap in protecting the legitimate rights of workers as enshrined in the provisions of the employment contract signed between the employer and employee. WPS also covers all institutions registered with the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in various sectors and business activities.
