Pfizer to spend $120 million to boost U.S. COVID pill manufacturing

New York, June 7 (BNA): Pfizer Inc said it will spend $120 million to expand manufacturing of its COVID-19 antiviral treatment at its Michigan plant, as demand increases.


Reuters reported that the use of the birth control pill, Baxlovid, which is authorized to treat newly infected and at-risk patients to prevent severe disease, has recently risen as infections have risen.


Biden administration officials have pushed for greater use of Baxlovid, which the government distributes free of charge.
