Oracle Core Database Expert with Exadata Skills – Senior Support Engineer at ACS
Advanced Customer Services is a global organization within Oracle, providing customized mission-critical support services to clients with complex IT requirements. We provide customized and proactive solutions for all Oracle applications and technologies: Sun Servers and Storage, Database, Middleware, and Applications.
Advanced Service Engineers (ASE) provide support in the continuous operational improvement of Oracle environments. ASE does this by leveraging the intellectual property built on Oracle’s support and customer experiences throughout their participation in Oracle technologies.
Our goal is for each customer to gain more value from Oracle Solutions by helping them make informed decisions regarding implementation; Management and use of Oracle technologies.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
• Providing high quality technical services to ACS clients.
• Ensure adherence to methodology, tools and internal quality standards.
• Proactively anticipate the needs and activities of existing customers to provide better support and continue to engage with customer focused activities
• Work with Oracle LOBs and other partners to ensure knowledge is transferred in and out of ACS, acting as technical subject matter experts when required
• Focus on innovation and technology and understand how it can be used to benefit both customers and ACS
• Manage and resolve customer requests according to the main product strategy and model.
• Respond and resolve customer problems within the objectives of the Key Performance Indicators.
• Maintaining an updated and in-depth knowledge of new products.
• Ensure timely completion of planned proactive tasks and customer requests.
• Owning, solving problems and managing customer expectations throughout the life cycle in accordance with global standards.
• Work on the adoption, adoption and contribution of new processes and tools (ODC, diagnostic methodology, health checks, scripting tools, etc.).
Relevant work experience
• Candidate must have 5-8 years of experience using and managing an Oracle database server with strong knowledge of UNIX, Linux and/or Windows.
• Experience in RAC, DB performance, or backup/recovery is a must.
Formal education or equivalent
• Candidates must have a degree in Computer Science or similar. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is a must / (OCM) is an additional feature in Oracle platform products including database, cloud certification is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of UNIX, Linux and/or Windows.
• Experience in RAC, DB Performance, DB patching / DB Upgrade or Backup / Recovery is a must.
• Experience with Exadata Required
• More of the following technical areas are an added advantage: Oracle Security Products, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Golden Gate, SQL Tuning, Corruption, Super Cluster, ZFS, and ZDLRA.
• Having excellent written and spoken English is a must with strong communication skills.
• The candidate must have client focus, global work, teamwork, and results orientation skills.

• Excellent accident and problem management skills.
• Flexibility to work within a global “follow the sun” shift period, covering local or non-local daylight hours, including holidays and weekends, on a rotating basis
• Ability to have support “on demand” as part of a joint on-demand rotation among team members
• Willing to travel for long or high-frequency assignments
