The global open source team at IBM is looking for software engineers with experience in leading customers through digital transformations.
Your role and responsibilities
Meet with clients to discuss their open source strategy and to define the scope of activities that the IBM team can deliver that address clients’ challenges, serving as the focal point for IBM’s transformation.
Develop high-performance solutions that deliver business value to the client, using design methodologies, replicable approaches, and best practices.
Maintain the technical skills and deep engineering capabilities of major open source products including Red Hat OpenShift, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, Apache Hadoop, MongoDB, and SUSE Rancher, among many other popular packages.
Research and stay informed of changes in the open source ecosystem, evangelize the capabilities of IBM Open Source, and present them to both internal and external audiences.
Assist with RFP/RFI when seeking assistance from the IBM sales team.
– Creating knowledge through articles, blogs and distance training.
Technical and professional experience required
At least 3 years of previous experience as a client-facing technical software consultant to design technical software solutions as per client requirements.
Ability to lead workshops, presentations and other events for clients, demonstrating complex technical solutions.
Working technical knowledge of core open source products (at least one or two of the following: OpenShift, OpenStack, Ansible, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ELK, Prometheus, Redis, Apache Hadoop).
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
Skills of developing software solutions using cloud-native technologies using languages such as Python, Java or Golang via DevOps best practices
Previous experience in migrating to open source solutions
Understand architecture frameworks such as Open Group TOGAF or Zachman and approaches such as Design Thinking
– Current contributions to the open source community or desire to do so
