Only the voice of the Bahraini voter is heard: Election executive director

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Chairman of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority and Executive Director of the Parliamentary and Municipal Elections 2022, Nawaf Abdullah Hamzah, said that during voting, only the votes of voters are heard.

“Only the voices of the Bahraini voters are heard, and all other voices are indifferent and ineffective,” he said during his visit to the general polling station in the Seef Complex on the outskirts of the capital, Manama.

Hamza confirmed the high turnout in the run-off and praised the Bahrainis for their keenness to participate in the poll and to determine who will represent them in the House of Representatives and municipal councils.

He said, “Full judicial supervision in all polling stations has a vital and accurate role in the counting process and in announcing the results with full transparency.”

“The elections are proceeding positively from a procedural and technical point of view, whether in voting in Bahrain or in the Kingdom’s diplomatic missions abroad,” he added.

Bahrainis went to the polls last Saturday to elect 40 members of the House of Representatives and 30 members of municipal councils.

However, in constituencies where no candidate has received at least 50% of the vote, the top two contenders in each constituency face each other on November 19 for the winning seat.

Bahrain has held parliamentary and municipal elections every four years since 2002 without interruption.
