Oil minister inaugurates ESF forum

Manama, Jan. 24 (BNA): Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah, inaugurated the Middle East Energy and Sustainability Forum (ESF 2023).

The forum discussed issues related to carbon removal in refining projects using the latest specialized technologies while providing the best solutions and studies in this field.

The forum reviewed carbon removal methods and transformation strategies, the initial foundations for a low-carbon future, the transition to a circular economy through recycling and conversion of plastic waste, the latest green and blue hydrogen technologies and projects, in addition to carbon technology. Capture and store investment.

The minister thanked Euro Petroleum Consultants for choosing the Kingdom to hold the forum.

He affirmed the interest and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in strengthening cooperation with various parties to achieve the goals of sustainable development and providing appropriate means to attract such events.

He highlighted the forum’s objectives to implement new energy transition strategies, build a low-carbon future, and find solutions to meet various challenges.

The minister stressed the importance of global coordination to ensure continued access to clean, reliable, affordable and competitive energy.

He stressed that Bahrain has adopted several initiatives to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 by enhancing energy efficiency and direct investment in carbon capture technologies to achieve a gradual transition to a more sustainable energy future and zero neutrality by 2060.

The forum also focused on the GCC region and its role in meeting the latest goals without affecting the needs of future generations, and the importance of strengthening cooperation with technology companies to reach sustainable development.
