OIC, Arab League call for a ceasefire in Sudan

Jeddah, April 15 (BNA): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has expressed its deep concern about the ongoing fighting in several Sudanese cities between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, called for an immediate cease-fire, resumption of dialogue, and recourse to the voice of reason.


He expressed his confidence in the wisdom and leadership of the Sudanese people and their ability to overcome this crisis through negotiation and dialogue.

The League of Arab States expressed its deep concern about the current clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital, Khartoum, and other areas.

In a statement, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit urged the warring parties to preserve the security and safety of Sudanese civilians in combat zones and throughout the country, calling for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the bloodshed.
