Office of the Ombudsman holds specialised trainingg workshop

Manama, January 18 (BNA): The Board of Grievances organized a specialized training workshop on January 16 and 17, in cooperation with the National Institution for Human Rights.


Experts from Northern Ireland for Overseas Cooperation (NI-CO) delivered lectures during the two-day workshop.


The Ombudsperson, Ghada Hamid Habib, confirmed in her speech during the workshop the permanent keenness of the Board of Grievances to launch training and development programs and events to provide its cadres with the required skills and inform them of the best international practices in their fields of work.


She emphasized that since its establishment, the Office of the Ombudsman has adopted a strategy based on positive and constructive cooperation with relevant international agencies, including NI-CO, with which it has organized many events over the past years.


She added that this workshop is of remarkable importance, especially in light of the continuous development of mechanisms for dealing with different categories of inmates through laws and executive procedures such as the Alternative Sentences Law and the Correctional Justice Law for Children and their protection from abuse. And the open prisons project and others.


Ampodsum Habib thanked the lecturers for their outstanding level of knowledge. It also praised the existing cooperation with the National Institution for Human Rights in issues of common concern.
