NVTC, Wigan Football Club sign memorandum of cooperation

Manama, September 1 (BNA) The Nasser Vocational Training Center (NVTC) has signed a memorandum of cooperation with English football club Wigan Athletic to launch a sports football academy.

This is the first cooperation of its kind in the Gulf Cooperation Council between an English educational institution and an English sports club.

The agreement was signed by the Executive Director of the Center Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Nuaimi and President of Wigan Football Club, Talal Mubarak Al-Hammad.

The agreement aims to develop the skills of Bahraini youth and enhance their capabilities towards international professionalism with a prominent English club.

English football club Wigan Athletic will be the first British club to target high school students in the 15-18 age group, and will work to explore emerging sporting talent and prepare them for domestic and international tournaments.

Al-Naimi said that the memorandum comes as a result of the efforts of the National Center for Educational Technology in implementing its comprehensive vision and multidisciplinary educational strategy by improving the youth and sports sector.

The club will organize educational trips for NVTC members to England and integrate them with students within their age group at Wigan to train them in sports camps and play friendlies.

The club will provide physical education classes, field exercises and exploratory sports talents by selecting talents to move to England, complete their secondary education and continue their sporting career in Wigan.

Students affiliated with the NVTC will earn a Sports Diploma from the English Premier League through the Wigan Athletic Club.
