NSSA partners with NASA

Manama, September 21 / BNA / The Bahraini National Space Science Agency (NSSA) is partnering with one of the most famous space agencies in the world – the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States.

This official collaboration follows NSSA’s sponsorship of the NASA Space Apps Challenge – an annual hackathon that brings together students, programmers, programmers, aspiring scientists, and inventors to solve real-world NASA challenges.

The NSSA has been running the hackathon for two years. She ran two virtual events last year; One focused on Covid-19 and the other was the release of virtual space applications.

“It gives me great pleasure and pride to announce that NASA has officially invited NSSA to join as a partner in this year’s Space Applications Challenge,” said Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Asiri, CEO of NSSA.

“Having sponsor the hackathon since 2019, NSSA joins 9 other global space agencies to celebrate 10 years of space applications. It is important to note that NSSA is the only regional space agency to partner with NASA in this challenge. We believe this sends a strong message of commitment from Our side to connect with the global space science ecosystem and put Bahrain on the map of space exploration.”

NSSA’s participation in Space Apps this year during Space Week in early October will increase the diversity of participants, subject matter experts and judges. This will be the biggest event yet. High school and college students as well as enthusiasts young and old are invited to come together and develop solutions to space challenges.
