North Korea fires projectile toward East Sea

Seoul, March 24 (BNA) Today, Thursday, the North Korean army fired an unidentified shell towards the East Sea.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced the launch. No other details were immediately available.

North Korea’s move came four days after its artillery fire drills. And Yonhap News Agency reported that it also tested, unsuccessfully, the launch of a long-range missile system last week.

Concerns persisted that North Korea might engage in provocations down the road as it made a veiled threat in January to lift its years-old ban on nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile tests.
