North Korea calls its nukes ‘stark reality,’ criticizes G-7

North Korea, April 21 (BNA): North Korea’s foreign minister described Friday the Group of Seven rich democratic nations as “a tool to ensure US hegemony,” while criticizing the group’s recent call for North Korea’s nuclear disarmament.

Senior diplomats from the Group of Seven countries, who met recently in Japan, have jointly condemned North Korea’s recent ballistic missile tests and reiterated their commitment to the goal of North Korea’s complete abandonment of its nuclear weapons.

Their statement was prepared as a model for leaders at the G-7 summit next month in Hiroshima, where North Korea’s nuclear program is likely to be discussed again, reports the Associated Press.

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said her country will take an unspecified “strong reaction” if the G7 countries – the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and the European Union – show “any behavioral attempt” to infringe on North Korea’s core interests.
