Nineteen suspects to stand trial for trafficking in persons

Manama, September 29 (BNA) The Public Prosecution referred 19 defendants on charges of forming a criminal gang involved in human trafficking to the Supreme Criminal Court on October 12.

The suspects were charged with deceiving domestic workers into prostitution by deceiving them into obtaining better paid employment opportunities. The eleven victims were forced into prostitution after being taken to vice dens and deprived of their liberty.

After completing the investigations, the Public Prosecution ordered the detention of 18 suspects and issued an arrest warrant for a suspect who is at large. It also ordered that the accused be referred to the criminal court for trial.
