NIHR President hails adoption of open prison system

Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): The head of the National Institution for Human Rights, Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, affirmed that opening the prison system will contribute to expanding the application of the Penal Code and alternative procedures.

The adoption of the open prison system coincides with the development and modernization of the security system in a humane manner towards individuals subject to judicial rulings in felonies and misdemeanors in a different manner in line with international human rights standards.
