The dialogue was organized by the United Nations Regional Human Rights Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) as part of the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons.
The steps taken by the Kingdom to protect and promote the rights of the elderly were highlighted, including national legislation that protects the rights of the elderly, and the development of national strategies, plans and initiatives that contributed to improving the quality of life of the elderly. Older people and their active and continuous participation in society.
Emphasis was also placed on the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in raising awareness of the rights of the elderly and presenting the reality of the elderly in the Kingdom and the services and facilities provided to them.
The dialogue was attended by experts on aging issues and representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, national human rights institutions, trade unions and civil society institutions in the Arab world.
