NIHR committee visits BIECC

Manama, September 14 (BNA): The committee in charge of visiting places of detention at the National Institution for Human Rights conducted a field visit to the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center to monitor the level of health services. Offered to all as part of the effort to combat the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The committee met with members of the national task force to combat the coronavirus (Covid-19) and held meetings with medical teams to learn about the extent to which precautionary measures are adhered to and the extent to which human rights standards stipulated in international laws are respected. The committee also met with a number of vaccinators to get their opinion on the measures taken and the health care provided to them when taking the vaccines.

The visit comes within the framework of the oversight role of the National Human Rights Institution and its plan to follow up on the implementation of human rights standards when applying examination, isolation and quarantine procedures during the pandemic. The committee is also responsible for preparing reports and recommendations related to human rights and sending them to the competent authorities.
