NIAD takes ‘Forever Green’ Campaign to Al-Ghous walkway, Mazarea Highway with support of Dar Aqua, SICO

Manama, November 9 (BNA) The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) announced that it has received support from Dar Akwa and Agriculture Company for afforestation of the Lagos Corridor in Muharraq Governorate, and from SICO Investment Bank for Agriculture. The projects implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Supreme Council for the Environment are part of the national afforestation campaign “Forever Green”.

The representative of Aqua House, the director of the Agriculture Company, Abdullah Al-Fahal, the director general of Muharraq Municipality, Ibrahim Al-Joudar, senior officials, members of the municipal council and representatives attended the afforestation ceremony of the Goose Walk.

During the event, the goals and developments of the “Forever Green” campaign were presented.

On this occasion, the owner of Dar Akwa and Agriculture Company, Ahmed Abdel Karim Bucheery, expressed his pride in contributing to the national campaign, which he said is one of the government’s goals.

He praised the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King, to the agricultural sector, and her efforts in transforming Bahrain into a green country as it has always been, as evidenced by her care of the agricultural sector. On this occasion, Al-Shirawi said: “We always seek to cooperate with relevant institutions with which we share common goals to preserve the environment and adhere to sustainable practices that will help create a healthy, clean and safe environment for the benefit of community members.”

“SICO will continue to introduce and implement new effective initiatives that will reduce our carbon footprint and integrate environmental awareness and sustainability into our operations, in line with Bahrain’s goal to reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2035 by doubling the number of trees in Bahrain,” she said.

She expressed her pride in SICO’s success in being the first bank to contribute to such an ambitious initiative, stressing the bank’s keenness to continue its efforts based on the success of its first project to plant trees along December 16 Street, in cooperation with Nyad. .

She also praised the tireless efforts made by the Northern Region Municipality and NIAD to protect the environment and beautify the Kingdom.
