NIAD plants trees at public transport station

Manama, March 22 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) is supported by the Bahrain Development Bank and in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture. Today, the Supreme Council for the Environment launched a project to plant 13 hibiscus telesius trees and 12 poinsiana trees at the public transport station on the Sheikh Salman Highway in the Gary Al-Sheikh area in the Southern Governorate.

The project, which falls within the second phase of the national afforestation campaign (Forever Green), was launched at the public transport bus stop in the Southern Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Secretary General Nyad, Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, CEO of the Bahrain Development Bank, Dalal Al Qais, Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transportation, Hussain Ali Yaqoub, Head of Land Transportation Projects, Fadwa Zaid, Vice President of the Southern Municipal Council, Abdullah Bubshait The meeting was attended by officials of Municipality of the southern region and those interested in environmental affairs.

The project is in line with the Kingdom’s goals of expanding green areas and planting trees in a manner commensurate with the Kingdom’s climatic nature, and contributes to absorbing carbon emissions and mitigating the effects of climate change.

On this occasion, Sheikha Maram bint Issa highlighted Nyad’s keenness on community partnership with many bodies and institutions to serve the community, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to expand the scope of community partnership. A green area to reduce carbon emissions, and within the strategy of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which aims to develop the infrastructure for the land transport sector and provide shade and a healthy environment in waiting areas.

She also expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Bahrain Development Bank for supporting the Forever Green campaign for the second time.

Dalal Al-Qais expressed Bahrain Development Bank’s pride in its partnership with Nyad during the implementation of the second phase of the “Forever Green” project.

She said that the Bahrain Development Bank’s initiative comes within the framework of its keenness to support the agricultural sector in the Kingdom.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport affirmed the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ continued support for the “Green Environment Forever” campaign to help achieve the Kingdom’s commitment to reach Net Zero by 2060.
