Croatia’s experience might provide edge in final – Perisic

Rotterdam, June 17 (BNA): Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic said on the eve of the match that Croatia’s experience could be essential when it faces Spain’s young national team in the Nations League final on Sunday in the Netherlands.

Croatia, who finished second and third respectively in the last two editions of the World Cup, is seeking its first major trophy as it faces the Spaniards in Rotterdam to determine the third edition of the Nations League.

Croatia beat its Dutch hosts 4-2 after extra time in Wednesday’s semi-final at Feyenoord, reports the Associated Press.

“We’ve been together for a long time and a core of the team has developed a deep understanding after all these years.

“The Spanish team has a lot of young, new players but they play for great clubs. Yes, we have more experience than they do, as we finished second in the 2018 World Cup and then third in Qatar.

“I think we may have a little competitive advantage. We had great experience from Russia and from Qatar. But we are still talking about Spain, who will always make a great national team.”

Spain reached the final with a last-gasp victory over Italy in the semi-finals in Enschede on Thursday.
