SCH President: Family medicine essential in ensuring new health system success

Manama, June 26 (BNA): The President of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received here today the President of the Bahrain Medical Association, Dr. Amer Al-Derazi. Members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Family Physicians Association (BFPA) headed by Dr. Faisal Abdullatif Al-Nasser, including Dr. Amal Daoud, Dr. Bashir Habib, Dr. Hana Al-Fayez.

The meeting focused on the future programs and activities of the Bahrain Family Physicians Association.

The President of the Supreme Council of Health praised the BFPA’s role in promoting the health of community members and protecting them from diseases, as well as in educating patients and society about healthy lifestyles.

He praised the great role played by health associations in serving Bahraini society, especially patients, through their partnership with governmental and non-governmental agencies, which contributes to the development of health services that are steadily improving in light of the comprehensive development process led by His Highness. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The head of the Health Council congratulated the delegation on activating the role of the Bahrain Family Physicians Association, stressing his permanent support for its activities.

He also briefed them on the health system that will be implemented in the Kingdom during the coming period, stressing the importance of family medicine in the success of the new system.

The members of the association presented the Chairman of the Board with a copy of the Kuwait Charter of the Gulf Society for Family Medicine (GAFM), issued by the GAFM in May 2023.

The President and members of the BFPA appreciated the continuous follow-up and directives of the President of the Medical Council, expressing their pride in his keenness to consolidate partnership with various sectors to ensure high-quality health coverage.
