Arsenal signs Declan Rice from West Ham for a deal worth a reported $138 million

LONDON, July 15 (BNA): England midfielder Declan Rice joined Arsenal in a £105 million ($138 million) deal on Saturday, ending his nine-year association with West Ham.

The fee has not been officially announced by either club, but West Ham said 24-year-old Rice was moving for a British record transfer fee, according to the Associated Press.

Arsenal are said to be paying an initial fee of £100m, plus add-ons. This initial fee is the same British record amount Manchester City paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021.

Another England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, has joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund this off-season in a deal that could amount to more than $139 million.

It’s a statement signed by Arsenal after a season that saw the club narrowly miss out on the Premier League title, but re-established itself as a powerhouse in England under Mikel Arteta.
