Suez Canal revenue hits record high at $9.4bn

Cairo, June 20 (BNA): The head of the Egyptian Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, said that the revenues of the Suez Canal increased by 35% this year, to reach $9.4 billion in the current fiscal year 2022/2023, compared to $7 billion in the previous year.

He attributed the high record to the consistency of the services provided by the channel despite global challenges, the Middle East and North Africa region reported.

Rabih said that the development of the southern sector aims to increase traffic in the canal by 17% to meet the growing demand.

The current average of ships transiting the Suez Canal is 72 to 77 per day.
