US World Cup opener viewership in primetime doubles from 2019

AUCKLAND, July 23 (BNA): The United States’ Women’s World Cup opener against Vietnam, Sunday, has doubled the average viewership since the 2019 opener, with a primetime hit of 5.261 million viewers helping.

The Americans got their bid to get an unprecedented three-legged off to a comfortable start, as they beat World Cup newcomers Vietnam 3-0 in Auckland on Saturday, peaking at 6.552 million viewers for the English-language broadcast. Reuters reported.
