FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship to start tomorrow

Manama, July 6 (BNA): The activities of the 22nd edition of the World Volleyball Championship for men under 21 years of age will start tomorrow at Isa bin Rashid Hall in Isa Sports City until July 16, under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Khalifa, First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

The 16 teams participating in the tournament were divided into four pools. Group A includes Bahrain, Iran, Thailand and Tunisia; Group B includes Poland, Bulgaria, Canada and India; Group C includes Italy, Brazil, Egypt and Mexico; Group D includes Argentina, Belgium, the Czech Republic and the United States of America.

The first and second placeholders in each group will qualify for the second round. The results of the preliminary round will advance the qualified teams to the quarter-finals.

Eight matches will be played tomorrow in the first round of the tournament.

The Bahrain Volleyball Association Hall will host four matches. The first and second matches of Group B, India and Poland, will be played at 11 am, and Canada and Bulgaria at 2 pm. The third and fourth matches of Group A, Thailand and Iran, will be at five in the evening, and Bahrain and Tunisia at eight in the evening.

The Bahrain Table Tennis Club will also host four matches. The first and second matches of Group C will be Italy and Mexico at 11 am, and Egypt and Brazil at 2 pm. The third and fourth matches of Group D, the United States of America and Argentina, will be at five in the evening, and Belgium and the Czech Republic at eight in the evening.

All teams trained in the two main halls of the championship according to the approved training schedule in accordance with the international protocol.
