The Deputy Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, July 24 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the weekly cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet affirmed the importance of the speech delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the 18th consultative meeting of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Gulf Summit with the C5 Central Asian countries, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On behalf of His Majesty the King, the Bahrain delegation was headed by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and National Security Adviser.

The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, to make the summit a success, which seeks to strengthen human solidarity and stabilize international relations.

The Cabinet reviewed the progress made in implementing the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in previous cabinet meetings, by the concerned authorities to make Ashura a success in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s respect for all religions and coexistence that is characterized by its strong social fabric. In this regard, the Council of Ministers was briefed on the meeting held between the Minister of Interior, the General Authority for Husayni processions and the heads of Husayniyyas in the Kingdom.

The Cabinet also noted the statements of the Husseiniya leaders, which reflected awareness, national responsibility, and commitment to the success of Ashura by preserving the unified Bahraini society.

On the occasion of the International Day to Combat Human Trafficking, the Cabinet praised the Kingdom’s achievements in the field of combating human trafficking, which has received international recognition, expressing its appreciation for the effective role played by the Ministry of Interior and all concerned authorities in this regard.

During the meeting, the Cabinet discussed several memorandums approving the following:

1- A memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law ratifying the amendment of the Arab Charter for Human Rights.

2- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law approving the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic of 1965.

3. A memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to amend some provisions of the executive regulations of the Buildings Regulation Law. The decision aims to further develop the “Banayat” platform, by assigning some of the tasks carried out by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in relation to buildings to engineering offices.

4. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government security program agreement between the National Center for Cybersecurity and Microsoft.

5. A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a bilateral agreement between the Department of Survey and Land Registration and the United Kingdom’s Hydrographic Office.

6. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to seven proposals submitted by the House of Representatives.

Finally, the Cabinet referred to the following ministerial reports:

1. Results of Bahrain’s participation in the summit of a new global financial compact.

2. The outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the high-level political forum for sustainable development.

3. Bahrain’s bid for the second Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
