New York, July 18 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met with Mohammed Khalid Khayari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs. in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs – Department of Peace Operations.
They met on the sidelines of the high-level political forum at the United Nations Economic and Social Council in New York, where Bahrain is reviewing its second national report to implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Al Khalifa praised the efforts of the Department of Political Affairs, Peacebuilding and Peace Operations in maintaining international peace and security.
He also stressed that Bahrain supports dialogue and openness and works to end conflicts, in addition to supporting world peace, especially in the Middle East region.
Al-Wakil affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Khayari appreciated Bahrain’s role in supporting the operations of the United Nations peacekeeping forces, referring to the tasks assigned to it by the main organs of the United Nations.
He expressed the department’s aspiration to continue strengthening cooperation with Bahrain.
