Egypt signs two contracts to explore gold in eastern desert

Cairo, Jan. 17 (BNA): Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla, representing Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority, signed on Wednesday with Canada’s Aton Resources for Mining company a raw gold and material exploitation contract at a 58-km area in the eastern desert.

 

In a press release, Petroleum Ministry said the minister also witnessed the signing of a contract between Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority and British Akh Gold Company to explore gold at a 350-km area in the eastern desert within the British company’s efforts to boost its investments in Egypt, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.

 

During the signing ceremony, the Canadian and British officials hailed stability and positive investment climate enjoyed by Egypt especially after recent reforms in the field of mining.
